Say N’ Play Camp

The Say N’ Play Summer Speech Camp, now in its 14th year, is our most popular program. Our camp is an intense speech and language based program taught by licensed speech- language pathologists (SLPs). Also included are behavior interventionist support staff who assist with our children who present behavior challenges.

Our innovative camp is thematically based and includes weekly field trips to exciting locations such as the Aquarium of the Pacific, Los Angeles Zoo and AdventurePlex. Additionally, select children receive individual or group pull-out speech therapy two times per week from our culturally diverse staff of SLPs.

Over the years, this fun-filled camp has gained in popularity, drawing staff and families from around the country.

Our staff to child ratio is 1:4 or 1:2, depending upon each child’s need, as determined by our team. Our support staff are college students from across the country, many of who return each year.  We also include very responsible high school volunteers whom we affectionately call “speech buddies.” The students are the best and brightest from local private schools. Many of them return as well each summer to work with our children. Their role is to serve as “buddies” to the children while also stimulating speech and language in an unobtrusive manner. They are not professional staff nor are they included in the staff to child ratio making our actual ratio even richer.

Since 2006, our campers have been provided choices of several fun afternoon electives.  Those offered include Senses Alive, Drama Kings and Queens, Busy Builders, Chess, Cooking, Sign Language, Tennis Anyone?, Picture Taking and Scrapbook Making, Clay Play, The Sound of Music and Get Hooked on a Book.  Children work in groups and look forward to their afternoon activities.  Campers are able to work with children of all ages as well as different staff and specialized instructors.

Camp 2012 will be even more enriching as we plan for new and returning campers. We will host two sessions in 2012: Session I will be from June 25- July 20 (4 weeks) and Session II will be from July 23 - August 10 (3 weeks). The Cost is $2100.00 or $2600.00, for Session I or $1575 or $1950 for Session II.

Space is limited and our sessions fill up quickly. Call for a free 30 minscreening to determine each child’s needs and their appropriateness for the 2012 camp.  If your child is accepted, a non-refundable registration fee of $200.00 will be required to hold the space and will be applied toward tuition.
